The Jaguar Heritage Museum was originally located in Jaguar’s spiritual home at Browns Lane, Coventry. In August 2012 the museum was closed following the purchase of the site by property developers. Whilst a new home is being sought for the collection, the museum management were keen to maintain a museum presence and commissioned Pan 3Sixty to create a virtual ‘Jaguar Heritage Museum’ for enthusiasts to view online.
The museum virtual tour includes 360° panoramas of seven different vantage points, showcasing the 29 cars on display plus other historical exhibits such as race trophies and artworks. There are two additional interior panoramas to provide viewers with a driver’s eye view of the world’s only Jaguar XJ13 or a passenger’s eye view from the rear of the 1957 Jaguar Mark Vll formerly used by HRH The Queen Mother.
For ease of use, all the panoramas are brought together in a sleek virtual tour user interface designed to the same guidelines as the new Jaguar Heritage website. Users can navigate between panoramas using thumbnail photographs or panorama-to-panorama hotspots for a ‘walk though tour’ of the museum. Pop-up labels provide comprehensive information about the cars and social media links enable viewers to spread the word about the tour via Facebook, Twitter and Google +.
