The Museum site at Langford covers approximately 7 acres and has the River Blackwater flowing through it. Much of the site is laid to grass with many mature trees and large shrub beds and is an ideal venue for visitors of all ages, for picnics, or just to relax in attractive surroundings. Come and enjoy the 'Museum Walk' spotting the many species of birds and plants. There is ample parking space and a small tearoom.

The Museum is organised in an attractive disused Southend Waterworks Pumping Station which houses the largest exhibit, which is a triple expansion steam engine and pumps built by the Lilleshall Company.

The site is owned by Essex & Suffolk Water who continues to support the Museum, which is still in its early stages of development. A 7¼" gauge miniature railway is under construction. Most of the work at the Museum is carried out by volunteers, so why not come and join us?

  • Several major events are held throughout the year so watch the local press or ring for details.
