Heybridge Basin
Heybridge Basin is a pretty
canal port where the River Blackwater provides access to the Chelmer &
Blackwater Navigation. First opened over 200 years ago, the canal meanders
through rural Essex via 12 working locks to Springfield Basin in Chelmsford.
Two pubs and a tearoom offer visitors with refreshment and provide an excellent
starting point from which to explore both the River Blackwater and Canal on
foot.
