Frog Seat

One of the seats in the Council Chamber has the words JoS and FROG written in periwinkle shells. JoS stands for John Scott. FROG was almost certainly refers to Charles Frogley. He was a friend of John Scott and shared his interest in poetry. Frogley was a bricklayer by trade and undoubtedly lined the grotto with brick before decoration of flint, shells and minerals was added. However, the word may possibly refer to Sarah Frogley, Charles' daughter, whom Scott married in 1768.
