Room 62A

For the crucial months of July 1940 to January 1941, which saw some of the heaviest and most frequent air attacks of the war on Great Britain, Rooms 62 & 62A constituted the Advanced Headquarters of the GHQ Home Forces.

In the event of an invasion, it was from these two rooms that the whole defence of the country against enemy attack was to be organised.
