The Schlumpf Collection, Mulhouse, France

Returning from Switzerland in 2006 we visited Mulhouse to see the Musée National de l'Automobile de Mulhouse, also know as the Schlumpf Collection.

The original collection was secretly established within a textile mill by brothers Hans and Fritz Schlumpf. Many, including members of Bugatti clubs around the world, knew of the collection, but the scale of the enterprise was a surprise to almost everybody when it was uncovered by disgrunteld mill workers in 1977. The collection, now the Musée National de l'Automobile de Mulhouse, is one of the most prestigious car collection in the world, containing the most comprehensive collection of Bugatti motor vehicles, including two Bugatti Royales.
