Cat Bells
Cat Bells is one of the most popular fells in the Lake District. Situated a short distance from Keswick on the western shore of Derwent Water, Cat Bells offers spectacular views over the surrounding countryside (on a clear day that is!!) even with a modest height of only 1,480ft.
Alfred Wainwright acknowledged Cat Bells as, "...one of the great favourites, a family fell where grandmothers and infants can climb the heights together, a place beloved. Its popularity is well deserved, its shapely topknott attracts the eye offering a steep but obviously simple scramble."
Whilst Cat Bells comes highly recommended an unfortunate downside of the fells popularity is path erosion, as is clearly evident in the first panorama.
